Colour Inspiration October ~ 'Tui Hues'

There are so many Tui around this year! Aren't they just the most gorgeous bird with all of those blue, teal and green colours?
The road to my daughter's school is lined with Kowhai and there must be about 50 or more Tui in them and we've got about 5 or 6 in our little backyard after the Camellia flowers. So that was my inspiration for this month's colour theme.

 

I think this month's Limited Edition kit is my favourite (do I say that every month?!) But just look at that combination - whoever said blues and greens should never be seen - they never looked closely at our glorious Tui did they?

 

This month's kit is Aqua silky satin supported by midnight tulle, navy stretch mesh and white elastics and findings.

Tui are so full of personality and for this reason they are also associated with life fulfilment, confidence and spiritual harmony.

The white decoration at a Tui's throat (pohoi) is a stand out feature and I wanted to represent that in this kit - so I've added an embellishment of a specially designed Bead Drop in white Swarovski crystals - ooh la la! That should give us all a shot of confidence.

 

 

Also, I've sketched up an idea of what I might make for myself and thought you might like to see. I'm thinking of the Eva panties by Studio Costura and the Boylston Bra by Orange Lingerie as the base patterns.
