Where is Nellie Joans based?

Nellie Joans is based in Taranaki, New Zealand, right under the beautiful Mount Egmont/Taranaki.

Do you have a physical shop?

We are an online shop only but you can make an appointment to visit the store room.  I love to show off product and chat lingerie making! 

What currency does the shop use?

By default the shop is set to NZD (New Zealand dollar) but you can use the drop down menu in the top bar to select a different currency.

What methods of payment do you accept?

When completing your order you are prompted to make payment directly through Shopify or Paypal.  Your personal and financial details are securely encrypted to ensure your money and information remains safe.  No financial details are made available to or held by Nellie Joans.

How are the items priced?

As a general rule: fabric is priced by the ¼ metre (fat quarter) lace is priced by the ½ metre and elastic is priced by the full 1m.

How are items cut?

All items are cut as continuous lengths, for example; if you ordered 1 unit of fabric you'd receive a piece 50cm high x half the width of the fabric - 2 units would be a piece 50cm high x the width of fabric and 3 units would be a piece 75cm high x width of fabric.

How are products packaged?

We strive to be environmentally friendly; this is an ongoing process.  Our product and order packaging can come in a variety of means which we encourage you to re-use, recycle or compost:

Items that can be recycled or home composted: Paper tape, string, tissue paper, decomposable cellophane bags, cardboard and paper, home compostable courier bags.

No virgin plastic is used but we may on occasion re-use bubble wrap or ziplock bags.

Do you provide wholesale?

We are a retail only company however we offer discounts for bulk buying on some items.  The bulk buy items are shown in the product listings or enquire for more information.

What countries do you ship to?

Nellie Joans started as a way to enable New Zealand based lingerie sewists easy access to bra fabric and findings but we now send items across the globe.

How long does shipping take?

Orders received before 2pm are generally shipped that day.  Orders received after 2pm are sent the next working day.

We know how exciting a new project is and like to get the items to you as quickly as possible.

Our courier does overnight delivery on most orders located in New Zealand.

For the rest of the world, the time it takes in transit can vary from country to country.  A general guideline is 10 working days.

Can I make a custom order?

Of course! We warmly welcome any custom orders so if you’d like a kit put together or have a specific pattern in mind that you’d like the exact supplies for then please contact us.

Can I request a product?

If there is a specific item you would like but we don’t have in stock then please also contact us and we will do our best to help. We are also open to suggestions of items you think we should regularly stock but don’t currently have.

Can I request a sample?

Absolutely! We happily send out samples of fabric, lace or elastics at no charge. Simply send us a message listing the products you’d like samples of.

How often do you send out newsletters?

We only send out newsletters once per month to let subscribers know what exciting things to expect in the upcoming month. Occasionally we will send out notification of upcoming sales but otherwise we won’t bombard your inbox with emails.
