At Nellie Joan's, I always endeavour to make an effort to use sustainable practices wherever I can.
So I've teamed up with CarbonClick, a New Zealand company making it easy for people and businesses to help fight climate change.
How I've gone about this, is by adding something very exciting to my website! And that thing is a climate friendly shopping cart! We’re enabling you to compensate for your carbon emissions, so you can shop climate friendly.
How does it work?
CarbonClick looks like a green button at checkout. Every time you make an order, you can choose whether you want to click the CarbonClick button. If you do, a small contribution of $2 is added to your basket which purchases carbon offsets. These offsets reduce the environmental impact of the carbon emissions related to the purchase.
Where does the money get spent?
What I really like about CarbonClick's offsets is that they fund forest restoration, tree planting, and renewable energy projects around the world. Initially I thought I'd like to keep the money within New Zealand but acting globally has a bigger impact. The other thing I like is CarbonClick keep their operating costs really low so a high proportion of the money goes directly to those projects.
CarbonClick is also completely transparent, so if you do decide to add the $2 to your order, you'll receive an email from CarbonClick letting you know the money has been donated, what project it's going towards and you can also track that money.
An exciting future
I'm really excited about adding this to my shop and I'm proud to be part of the fight against climate change.
I'll be making my own contributions, and continuing to improve my practices to reduce the carbon footprint (you can see what I currently practice in this regard on the About/Sustainability Practice page here).
I feel that adding CarbonClick to my website is upgrading my sustainability practice to a whole other level! And I do hope you'll join me in creating a sustainable future, by choosing to CarbonClick with your purchase.
